The Dutch fiscal year runs from 1 January to 31 December. Around the first week of February the tax authority (Belastingdienst) send reminders (in characteristic blue envelopes) about submitting your income tax return. As a rule, you will need to file no later than 1 May. Should you submit your return prior to 1 April, the tax authorities will assess your return before 1 July.
